Thought the Nokia 6 was going to be the only device featuring the Finnish manufacturer’s name this year? You thought wrong. It’s the Nokia 6 that has graced the rumor mill so far. But the company and Qualcomm took a rather cheeky chance at the latter’s booth on CES. On display was the Nokia 8, which will be the company’s flagship smartphone for 2017. Take a look below to find out more.
The Nokia 8 Surfaces With Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 24MP Rear Camera & More
Nokia and Qualcomm pulled one over us at CES. The US chip maker had promised details for the Snapdragon 835 at the summit. However, looks like details weren’t the only thing present at the company’s booth. There was also a Nokia 8 on display for anyone who would’ve bothered to look. The device was powered by the Snapdragon 835, and will launch later this year.
Qualcomm didn’t allow any photography of the device at its booth. Still, folks over at Total Tech managed to get a video showing the smartphone in its entirety out. You can take a look at it below. It’s expected that Nokia will launch the device in two variants. One of these will feature the Snapdragon 821 and the other the Snapdragon 835. Screen size for the device will stand at 5.7 inches, with a resolution of 2560×1440.
Nokia has been rumored to launch at least 7 smartphones this year, so the appearance of a high end flagship isn’t a surprise. The Nokia 8 will also feature two different storage variants: 64GB and 128GB. SD card support will be on both devices, with expansion for up to 256GB. Another highly impressive feature for the Nokia 8 is the rear camera. It’ll feature a resolution of 24MP and Carl Zeiss optics. The rear camera sensor will also support OIS and Super EIS.
At the front of the device, you’ll get a 12MP secondary camera and dual speakers. Nokia won’t follow the prevailing trend in the flagship world and will launch the Nokia 8 with a flat screen. On paper, the device looks as good as any flagship, with 4GB of RAM. It’ll launch at the MWC, so there’s still some time left until we get to lay our hands and eyes on it. Till then, stay tuned and let us now what you think in the comment section below. We’ll keep you updated on the latest.
